Tennessee Independent Colleges
and Universities Association

Private Colleges Serving Tennessee

Fifteen TICUA member institutions have associate's degree programs that are eligible for the Tennessee Promise. In fall 2015, 168 students attended TICUA member institutions with a Tennessee Promise scholarship. These scholarships averaged $746 per student.

The Tennessee Promise provides students a last-dollar scholarship, that covers tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, or state student assistance funds. Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institutions offering an associate’s degree program.

Students who attend an associate's degree program at a four-year institution receive an amount equal to what student would have received at a community college. The award for 2015-16 is $1,970.50/semester for a student taking 12 credits.
