Tennessee's Private Colleges add

$8.1 Billion to Tennessee Economy

Tennessee's private, non-profit college and universities are a major partner in the economic vitality of Tennessee. During 2009-10:
  • $4.2 billion was spent by private, non-profit institutions - an estimated 70% of which ($3 billion) were spent in Tennessee.
  • 301,092 full-time equivalent jobs (including 28,764 at the institutions themselves) were created/sustained by TICUA institutions.
  • $3.9 - $4.6 billion in individual income was generated by TICUA institutional expenditures.
