Watkins College Joins TICUA
On May 13, the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA) voted to extend membership to Watkins College of Art, Design & Film. TICUA engages Tennessee’s private colleges and universities to work collaboratively in areas of public policy, cost containment, and professional development to better serve the state and its citizens. TICUA's member colleges and universities educate nearly 68,000 students from across the state, country, and throughout the world.
Watkins is located in Nashville and offers a studio-based curriculum, supported by a strong academic foundation. The faculty and staff are committed to a learning-centered environment that challenges the student to engage the mind, train the eye and cultivate talent and skill into an active realization of creative potential. “Watkins is pleased to become part of such a committed organization as TICUA,” commented Ellen Meyer, President of Watkins. “We look forward to working closely with the staff of TICUA and other college members to promote the value of private higher education.”
With the addition of Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, TICUA represents 35 private colleges and universities across the State. Membership in TICUA is limited to independent, non-profit, regionally accredited colleges in Tennessee. “We are pleased to include Watkins among our membership,” stated Claude Pressnell, President of TICUA. “We anticipate that our other members will benefit through collaboration with staff and faculty at Watkins.”
