Watkins College of Art, Design & Film is a four-year baccalaureate college offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film, fine art, graphic design, interior design, and photography, a Bachelor of Arts in art, a Professional Certificate in film, and a Certificate in interior design. The faculty and staff are committed to a learning-centered environment that challenges students to engage the mind, train the eye, and cultivate talent and skill into an active realization of creative potential. Since its establishment in 1885 as a community-based learning institution – it became a baccalaureate college in 1997 – Watkins has continuously shaped and positively influenced the cultural horizon through studio-based art, design, and film instruction supported by a strong academic foundation, as well as through the year-round Community Education program for youth and adults and free gallery exhibitions, artist lectures, and film screenings. Watkins’ 13-acre lakeside campus, just minutes from downtown Nashville, includes a 60,000-square-foot academic building, boardwalk, and two residence halls.
