Christian Brothers University, founded in 1871, is a Catholic institution of higher
education in the tradition of the Christian Brothers. It is the largest private,
comprehensive university in west Tennessee, emphasizing excellence in teaching
and individualized attention to the whole person in a values-oriented interfaith
educational community. The University prepares students for professional careers
and lives of moral responsibility and constructive community involvement. The
first private institution in Memphis to integrate, it always has welcomed people of
all faiths. CBU offers undergraduate programs in engineering, business, sciences,
liberal arts, nursing, and education as well as graduate programs in business
administration, education, Catholic studies, engineering management, and
physician assistant studies.
