Established in 1842, Bethel University is steeped in the heritage of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and it creates opportunities to learners in a Christian environment. In 2009 it transitioned from a college to a university. A group of colleges now comprise Bethel, each meeting very specific student needs. The College of Liberal Arts offers the traditional experience from the residential campus in McKenzie. A number of innovative endeavors have set it apart– its Renaissance Performing Arts program offers performance-based scholarships. Bethel also has been innovative in creating unique athletic opportunities like shooting, inline hockey, and bass fishing that connect it to a growing, diverse arrangement of student athletics. The College of Professional Studies offers options for working adults through face-to-face classroom and online experiences from McKenzie, Nashville, Clarksville, Memphis, Jackson, and Chattanooga campuses. A pioneer in adult degree completion, Bethel has offered the Success adult degree program for years. In the most recent past, the program has moved to an online platform. Bethel’s College of Graduate Studies offers its MBA program as a blend of face-to-face and online instruction – a combination that has made it one of the fastest growing MBA programs. Bethel also has both a face-to-face and an online Master of Arts in Education as well as a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution.
